microBIOMAtica is a journey of body and enviromental storytelling, a riSomatic and territorial exercise of active memory of inner and surrounding microbiomes. Is connecting our microbe individuality to the bio-geographical ecosystem and collective memory.
The study of the body microbiome has enlightened key features to our health/sickness spectrum, the live and vibrant communities that conform it are crucial to understand it. The gut microbiome for example is connected to Intuition and the inmune system, even to our mental health. The harsh biopolitical actual situation can stress our bodies, our territories and bodies are inflamed, the global south is inflamed of the constant extractivist usurpation and genocidal colonialism. This affect directly our microbiomes.
How does the depleted and inflamed microbiota recover? Is it possible to reforest the microbiota? There are bacterial scars of the colonial trauma? How ancestral practices deal with inflamation? How can we dialogue with our ancestral microbes that live within and in the enviroment? Can we summon microbes? What does our microbiota sound like? Can we give them voice? Which are the specificities of microbiota of the global south? What is the scale of inflammation in the south?
The project aim to create a body wetware territory mapping/cartography, making conversations between microbes from different bodies and personal stories. Using DIY microbiome testkits from different ecologies, make a personal storytelling of territory/body and giving voice to them by recording personal relations with inflammation, health, plants and microbe ecosystems. Is not about diagnosis, is an open approach to listen our bodies and to nurture them connecting with entities beyond and within our body limits, and connecting a common story to recover an environmentpast present and future.
