El Ritmo que nos conecta will use city data to create music and visuals with whom the audience will be able to interact by changing parameters and inputs of this sound visualization project.
Projected in each area of the city of Fortaleza, the sound and visuals will be place-specific, reflecting the data from that specific area or neighborhood. The assembly and sound and visual programming process of the installation will also be recorded in a mini-documentary.
«This project will research what’s behind every city in the urbanized world: what’s the cost of a big city? How can urban citizens co-exist in harmony with the socio-environmental challenges that metropolis pose to their daily lives? My ongoing research is rooted in the 𝘚𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘬 𝘒𝘢𝘸𝘴𝘢𝘺 and everything that surrounds the Andean culture: also in this project, I choose the traditional Adrean music of my country Ecuador as a source of inspiration, influence and knowledhe, that I hope to share with the public».
Anthony Tandazo, new media artist and composer, born in the province of Loja, Ecuador. He began his studies in 2021 at the University of the Arts in Guayaquil with main focus on the itinerary of Musical Creation, where he has developed projects related to softwares such as Ableton and Max msp. In 2024, he participated in the “Art and Technology Minga”, Guayaquil. Currently, Tandazo’s interdisciplinary practice focuses on researching diverse Andean rhythms from Ecuador, and implementating audiovisual software to mix traditional rhythms
with contemporary sounds.
