Yiannis Colakides

Architect, Co-founder, NeMe NGO

Yiannis Colakides is a practising architect and the co-founder, with Helene Black, of the Cyprus based, non profit cultural NGO, NeMe (www.neme.org). He is a peer reviewer for Leonardo Abstracts Service (Pomona College) and Leonardo Journal (MIT Press). He has curated and/or coordinated numerous exhibitions, conferences, seminars, and workshops. He contributed as a (co-)writer and/or (co-)editor to several books, and was invited to lecture on the social functional necessity and the role that art plays in society by various universities and organisations.

His latest published book is State Machines: Reflections and Actions at the Edge of Digital Citizenship, Finance, and Art (Institute of Network Cultures, Amsterdam 2019) co-edited with Marc Garrett, Inte Gloerich. Forthcoming books include Frankenstein Reanimated: Conversations in Dystopian Times, with Marc Garrett; Island of Space, with Rose Butler; Reprogramming Earth with Daphne Dragona; and Working towards our own Obsolescence, with Régine Debatty; all by Torque Editions, UK.
