Join the fashion journalist and author Sujata Assomull in a conversation with the driving force behind Arvind Limited’s sustainability initiative, Executive Director Punit Lalbhai, and two of the fashion industry’s foremost female changemakers, Dipali Goenka, CEO and Joint Managing Director of Welspun and Katrin Ley, Managing Director of Fashion for Good, to hear their thoughts and insights on the impact of innovation in the textile manufacturing sector.

About the Speakers

Dipali Goenka, CEO and Joint Managing Director Welspun

Dipali Goenka has been a driving force in making Welspun a global leader in home textiles with relentless focus on customer centricity, innovation and sustainability. Welspun is one of the largest exporters of home textile products from India and has the highest market share in the US. Dipali has a strong focus on women’s empowerment and has undertaken significant initiatives to promote skill and entrepreneurship development in local communities. She has been recognized as 16th most powerful woman in Asia and 4th in India by Forbes magazine in 2016. Co-Chair, World Economic Forum on India in 2017 and an Inspire series speaker at the Harvard India conference 2018. Graduate in Psychology and a Harvard alumnus.

Punit Lalbhai, Executive Director Arvind Limited

Punit Lalbhai is Executive Director of Arvind Limited and leads Arvind’s Advanced Materials, Engineering and Agribusiness. He also spearheads initiatives in sustainability, CSR and innovation at Arvind. He has an MBA from INSEAD and a Masters of Environmental Science from Yale University.

Katrin Ley, Managing Director Fashion for Good

Katrin Ley is the Managing Director of Fashion for Good. She steers Fashion for Good’s global efforts to enable the daring invention and widespread adoption of good fashion practice. 

Katrin brings more than 20 years of relevant industry experience in fashion and impact investing. She joined Fashion for Good from Pymwymic, the ‘Put your Money Where Your Meaning Is Community’ of European wealth holders who invest for impact.  Katrin was Managing Director within the adidas Group (U.S. and Netherlands) and a Principal within the Boston Consulting Group (Germany and Scandinavia) – with a focus on private equity, consumer goods and technology.

Sujata Assomull

Born and raised in London, Sujata Assomull was the founding editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar India. Having worked at ELLE India, Indian Express and Verve, she also has been the communications director of Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Jimmy Choo in India. Sujata Assomull is an advocate for mindful fashion, a sought after moderator and speaker at many fashion events. Fall 2019 saw the launch of Sujata’s first book, “100 Iconic Bollywood Costumes” outlining a key visual history of Indian cinematic fashion. Currently she contributes to the newspaper Arab News as well international platforms such as Business of Fashion and Vogue Business and is the contributing editor of Vogue India.
