Ruben Verbaan is responsible for innovation within Dura Vermeer. Dura Vermeer is a top 3 player in the Dutch construction industry with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Ruben has been responsible for setting up Business Units in both the Infrastructure and the Construction Divisions of Dura Vermeer. The two new units (NEXT) focus heavily on entrepreneurship and corporate venturing. NEXT invests in and helps young entrepreneurs and companies innovating in cutting edge technologies. By doing so synergy is created to benefit from both the speed and flexibility of start-up companies on the one hand with the impact and force of a big corporate on the other. To be successful NEXT is continuously building up and expanding an ecosystem of innovative partners. Building for the next generation is its motto.

In earlier roles Ruben has set up and managed new business units for sustainable energy and new ways of handling waste. In both cases JV’s were formed with other – often international – partners. Market focus and creating impact were core strategies in those cases.

Ruben has also been working as a strategy consultant shaping the corporate strategies for innovation.
