The Engage4BIO project is proud to officially launch its Design Award!
INTRODUCTION
Do you ever wonder how creativity can be applied to sustainability? Are you an innovator, designer, or a visionary?
Then we have a challenge for you!
Our project project is looking for inspired creatives that want to be a part of the transition to a bioeconomy.
But what does this mean?
Engage4BIO set up the International Design Award to search innovative bio-based solutions that highlight the potential of biodesign in creating sustainable futures.
Through the contest, we seek to recognize and reward the most innovative and impactful designs that address environmental challenges and drive the transition to bioeconomy.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
You can choose to explore and work on five themes:
- Timber, Construction & Interior
- Sustainable Packaging
- Agriculture and Food Industry
- Circular and Bio-Based Textiles
- Blue Economy
Each one of them is represented in one of our Hubs!
Three applications will be chosen from each theme, leading to the final choice of one overall winner and one overall runner-up. At the end of the judging period, 15 entries will be exhibited at the final event in Budapest on the 26th of March 2025 (more details on event to be provided soon).
This event will give candidates the opportunity to showcase their work, network with industry leaders, and celebrate their achievements in the heart of Europe!

We have prizes for the chosen candidates and for the winner:
- Overall winner: 2000 EUR
- Runner-up: 1000 EUR
- Shortlisted entries: 150 EUR

CAN I SUBMIT MY IDEA?
The “This is Bioeconomy!” International Design Award is open to students, early-career professionals, and enthusiasts in design, architecture, engineering, and other related fields from 18 to 35 years olds.
Other useful information: You can join as a group (we love teamwork!), and you can also apply with your works created within the last five years.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE?
You have until January 4th, 2025!
After that, applications will be reviewed and the winner will be announced by the 4th of February 2025.
If your entry is selected, the “This is Bioeconomy” Award Ceremony will be in Budapest in March 2025.
