Where art meets manufacturing, the possibilities are limitless: Watch Better Factory’s new video!
Art possesses a remarkable ability to breathe life into the ordinary, to see beyond the surface, and to chart new territories that traditional manufacturing often leaves unexplored. In this blog post, we won’t retell the entire story; instead, we’ll unravel some takeaways from the conversation we recently had with two passionate minds, Zeynep Birsel (Better Factory Art Mentor) and Ali Muhammad (Better Factory Technical Co-ordinator), as they unveil the boundless advantages of collaborations between artists and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the context of the Better Factory project.
This four-year European Commission-co-funded initiative brings together key actors in the European technology, art and innovation landscape to provide an integrated innovation framework and a European network to deliver a standardised solution for Manufacturing SMEs. Through the project, the 16 teams (each comprising one manufacturing SME, one artist and one technology provider) are provided with up to €200K in funding and business support to invent and manufacture new and personalised products, and create services around them.
At the core of the Better Factory initiative lies a harmonious convergence of new technologies – think robotics, digital wizardry, and AI. This fusion, in itself, is nothing short of revolutionary, poised to reshape the manufacturing landscape. Yet, what sets Better Factory apart from the rest is its bold embrace of the human element, driven by the insights of social sciences.
What truly elevates this collaboration is the artist’s unique power to disrupt the ordinary. While traditional manufacturing often gravitates towards practicality, artists take flight into creativity. They inspire ideas that transcend the boundaries of mere functionality, and therein lies their unique magic.
So, without further ado, step into this short but interesting conversation with Zeynep Birsel and Ali Muhammad – a glimpse into a world where innovation knows no bounds. Watch the video and join us on this exhilarating journey where art meets manufacturing, and the possibilities are limitless.
