S+T+ARTS ReSilence BLOOMS

BLOOMS Exhibition and Workshop

 Organized as part of the European project ReSilence and the STARTS initiative

The BLOOMS exhibition and hands on workshop has successfully concluded. BLOOMS is a multi-sensory art-science installation about algae blooms as signals of ecological imbalance developed @startseu ReSilence artists and SME pair Wendy Chua, Joyce Koh, Gustavo Maggio and Playersjourney, in collaboration with Christian Stein and Object Space Agency, Sandric Leong and the team HABs at the Tropical Marine Science Institute. During the vernissage on May 7th, four musicians performed the VR soundscape composed for the art-science VR experience. An accompanying exhibition, including a live culture installation connected the public with the blooms that have occurred in Asia, the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea and the lakes in Brandenburg in recent years.

Moreover as part of the BLOOMS art-science installation several people where invited to a hands-on workshop on May 10, at the Tieranatomisches Theater in Berlin to explore phytoplankton from Berlin’s waterways to identify algae species and uncover the presence of blooms in urban aquatic ecosystems.
