On October 26–27, the AIR S+T+ARTS Festival took place at the Port of Badalona. This closing event marked the culmination of the S+T+ARTS AIR artist residency project, where 10 visionary artists from around the world showcased their innovative projects, developed over the last 10 months in collaboration with scientists and technologists from partner hubs.
The Festival ran each evening from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., drawing an enthusiastic crowd of more than 300 visitors, who experienced a series of immersive installations, performances, and interventions. Each artist presented work reflecting their unique journey of exploring the concept of air and addressing some of today’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. The Festival format invited attendees to delve into the creative process behind each project, witnessing firsthand the collaborative intersection between art, science, and technology.
Visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a range of innovative projects that explored themes such as urban biodiversity, interspecies communication, and human-AI interactions. These works highlighted the essential role that air plays in sustaining life and fostering connections across different species and environments. Through these engaging installations and performances, attendees experienced the intersection of art and science in new, thought-provoking ways, sparking meaningful conversations about the future of sustainable urban spaces and our evolving relationship with nature and technology.
The AIR Festival was not only a celebration of artistic and scientific creativity but also a powerful demonstration of the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration to inspire solutions for a sustainable future. As we look back on this successful event, we extend our gratitude to all institutions and artists engaged in the project and everyone who attended as well supported this ambitious endeavor.
