WEAR Sustain Open Call 2

Launch for Central and Eastern Europe (Athens)

Rationale for Event

New generation wearables will be flexible, fashionable and invisible. They will embed advanced features such as energy harvesting, efficient power management and very low-power high-performance computing. Future wearables will have to be shapeable, stretchable and washable/cleanable on-demand. Smart materials and digital technology in textile will allow smart textiles to sense, illuminate, communicate, transform energy, monitor health, and even protect from environmental hazards, providing them with advanced functionalities.

The WEAR Sustain project (https://wearsustain.eu/) is looking for designers, artists and technologists in Europe to collaborate and create together a new generation of sustainable, ecological, ethical and aesthetic wearables and e-textiles.

Selected teams of artists and technologists from all over Europe will receive funding of up to €50,000 per team to further develop their ideas and prototypes and turn them into successful products. They will also receive prototyping, technology, business, legal and other support in terms of vouchers which can be used with leading design and technology hubs in Europe. Twenty two teams have been selected following Open Call 1 to receive funding and support (https://wearsustain.eu/awardees/opencall1-2/). Up to twenty five (25) additional projects will be selected following the second WEAR Open Call. WEAR Sustain Call 2 opens on 15 November 2017 with a deadline of 15 January 2018. Check https://wearsustain.eu/ for further details and how to apply.
